During
the many years I worked as a nature photographer, I accumulated hundreds of wild flower
pictures.
These photos are the inspiration for the designs on the scarves. The
images have been manipulated both in the camera and in the digital
darkroom. I call them “Floral Abstractions.”
Some of the designs have as many as
four exposures on a single frame to create the complex patterns.
Digital printing gives us a palette of over a million colors to draw from
as opposed to the relatives few colors available in the silk screen process.
Note the gradation and shading not
found in
traditionally printed fabrics. New dye technology makes these prints very
fade resistant.
